Review: Herbal Essences with Bio:Renew

Because I have super fine hair, I am always searching for the perfect shampoo.  I want my hair to feel soft, but not too soft, so that I can achieve my desired volume.  And when my hair feels too stiff, I feel like I look like a lampshade.  I have tried salon-grade shampoos, drugstore shampoos, and every kind in between, but I have yet to find the perfect brand.  So when BzzAgent started their Herbal Essences with bio:renew campaign, I jumped right on that train!  Read on for the review.

Herbal Essences with bio:renew- Whtie Grapefruit and Mosa Mint Naked Volume

What is bio:renew?  According to Herbal Essences, it’s a blend of antioxidants, aloe, and sea kelp.  And it’s crafted in a plant that matches electricity to renewable wind credits.   I chose to try the volume version, naturally, but there are 8 other versions! The volume version claims to:

  • build body and movement
  • leave hair looking more voluminous
  • have a sweet minty scent combined with citrus and velvet peach

The Fragrance:

I have to say I love the smell of this shampoo.  It’s so fresh, and it never gets old.  I equate the scent to a real spring garden, with that subtle sweet scent full of smiles.  I didn’t quite pinpoint the mint, but maybe that’s why the sweet scent is so subdued.  It also lasted all day long, which is a rare quality to find in a shampoo.

My thoughts and experience

This shampoo is extremely light, so it definitely didn’t weigh my hair down.  The conditioner is super light as well.  However, this shampoo/conditioner combo did leave my hair pretty soft, but not too soft that I couldn’t work with it.  (Just something to note.  A little definitely goes a long way!)  Also, Herbal Essences with bio:renew left my hair shinier than usual.

Because of the desirable amount of softness with which Herbal Essences with bio:renew left my hair, I was able to easily blow dry using a round drying brush.  My tresses look smooth yet voluminous.  For more hair styling tips, check out How to Blow Dry Hair Straight.

    1. You go, ginger! Thanks! This is my natural color. I have been blonde, super dark, and have had some major mishaps along the way. I really do think this shampoo provides moisture since it leaves my hair so soft, so I really think it would help you!! xo

  1. Herbal Essence is definitely one of my favorite brands- I’m so picky with shampoos and conditioners because I need to have ones that smell good (lol) and H.E. literally just does it for me. All of their products smell soo good! I’ve never tried their “naked” ones but I’ve been hearing nothing but great things about them- esp if it gives me a little extra volume boost 🙂

    xo, JJ

  2. I absolutely love the Argan Oil version of this shampoo!! I just got it a few weeks ago and I’m OBSESSED! But your post made me excited to try the Grapefruit Mint one next 🙂 Thanks!

  3. I have super fine hair, so volumizing stuff is always on my radar! I think I’m going to have to make a stop on my way home today to try this out!!!

  4. I used to use herbal essences when I was way younger but I can’t remember if it did anything to my hair. This specific one sounds amazing! My hair could definitely use a volumizing shampoo. 🙂

  5. I used to always use Herbal Essences but I started using John Frieda. I think I’ll try this after my shampoo runs out!
