Patterned Fringe Shorts: A Simple Way to Create Unique Casual Summer Outfits

Hey, everyone!  I got these shorts last summer from a sale rack at a surf shop.  They were the only pair, and they just so happened to be my size.  I adore those types of little occurrences…

As of late, I feel like I have been the queen of casual.  After all, it is summer (sweltering here), and summer activities yearn for casual: beach, pool, boardwalk, picnics, parks, bbq parties…but you still want to look unique, right?

Since these shorts have so much going on, you don’t need much excitement in terms of tops.  Any plain-ish tee or top of pretty much any color (Although, in my opinion, more neutral shades work best here.) can work with this style of bottoms.  Be careful of shirts with prints.  If you do decide to go there, check out my tips on mixing prints.  If you choose the wrong print, you could end up in the hands of the fashion police.

My first look is an athleisure outfit with some bright sneakers, a white tee, and accessories.FringeShortsAthleisureFringeShortsAthleisure1

My second look is similar, but I ditched the sneaks for some flip flops.

Really thoughtful saying on the back of this Billabong tee.

Here are some shopping options if you want a funky pair of shorts.  The  shorts I am wearing are made by Billabong, but are no longer available.  Some of these options  are already on sale since summer is almost over!

O’Neill Feather Shorts

Levi’s Canyon Morning 501 Cutoffs at Free People Clothing Boutique

Hollister Low Rise Twill Short-Shorts

These shorts can take you into the fall as well, with some Converse on your feet and a cozy knit or sweatshirt on top.  You could even wear a long boho cardigan over a tee to add even more coziness.   That would make unique casual outfit appropriate for a bonfire!

That’s what’s up in style today.  I have been wanting to blog about these shorts for a while!  I love the pattern, cut, fringe…all of it. Have you guys ventured out into the world of patterned denim?  Please comment, and feel free to share this post with your family and friends.  As always, thanks for stopping by.
